AT&T Wireless Services Inc., the third-largest U.S. mobile-phone company, sold its 49 percent stake in India's BPL Mobile Cellular Ltd. to the BPL Mobile Group.
AT&T Wireless and its predecessors invested more than $150 million in BPL Mobile Cellular in the past six years, the Bangalore, India-based company said in a statement.
AT&T Wireless sold the stake as part of its strategy to focus on the North American market. A spokesman for Redmond-based AT&T Wireless said the amount received for the stake is "confidential."
