Chip maker Intel Corp has launched an upgraded Intel Xeon processor that is designed for use in multi-processor servers.
The new release can reportedly provide up to 25% better performance when compared to previous versions which will enable customers to install their applications onto fewer servers. The enhanced processor features a speed of 3.0GHz and a 4MB level three cache and is drop-in compatible with existing Xeon systems.
Pricing starts at USD3,692 for the processor in 1,000-unit quantities.
