Browsers

Zoom and Full Screen Views

To zoom in and out of a webpage, don't look around for an option within the toolbar-just press [+] to zoom into a webpage and [-] to zoom out of a webpage. Full screen views in Opera are accessed by pressing [F11]. With Opera you get a totally 'full' screen view, unlike IE, where you need to use the auto-hide option.

Remembering where you went last

If you abruptly stopped your last browsing session, Opera remembers where you went last, and starts there. When you restart Opera, you will be prompted to start from where you left off.

Tabbed Browsing

To enable this in Netscape, click on Edit > Preferences to access the Preferences window. Expand the Navigator tree and select Tabbed Browsing. Within the menu, select the options you want. You can open a new tab by pressing [Ctrl] + [T], and cycle through all the opened tabs by pressing [Ctrl] + [PgUp] or [Ctrl] + [PgDn].

Searching From Netscape

The default search engine for Netscape is Google, but you can set another search engine. Go to Edit > Preferences and select Internet Search. You can specify the search engine that you want to work with, from within the drop-down list. Finally, click on OK to set your preference. If you enter a term on the Address bar that cannot be resolved into a webpage, Netscape will automatically search for it, using the default search engine.

Enabling Quick Launch

If you haven't configured Netscape to load at start up, then enabling the Quick Launch option will help to load it faster. To enable this, click on Edit > Preferences and select Advanced, from the list on the left. In the Advanced menu, under 'Enable features that increase performance', select Enable Quick Launch and click OK. The next time you reboot, you will see Netscape loading faster.

Disabling the splash screen

If you don't like the Netscape splash screen, you can get rid of it. You need to add the -quiet or -nosplash switch to the executable file. To do this, right-click on the Netscape icon, and add the switch to the end of the EXE file name. This is how it will look: "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe" -nosplash or "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe" -quiet.
