How Do I Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 in the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System?

To repair Internet Explorer 6.0, complete the following procedure:

Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer:

Click Start, and then click Run.

The Run box appears.

In the Open: box, type sfc /scannow and click OK.

You may be prompted to insert the Windows XP installation CD-ROM at this time.

Open a new Internet Explorer browser to determine if the issue is resolved.

If the issue is resolved, skip the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.

Complete an in-place upgrade of Windows XP, or a repair of Windows XP.
