Steps to run the Microsoft Internet Explorer Repair Tool.

Note: You should not be prompted for installation disks during this process. If you are, please contact Microsoft for assistance.
<b>To repair Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x for Windows 95/98/98 SE (Second Edition) and Me:</b>
From the Start menu, select Settings, and then choose Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear.
Open the Add/Remove Programs icon. The Add/Remove Programs window will appear.
In the lower window, click the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x and Internet Tools option or the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x and Internet Tools option, and then click the Add/Remove button.
Click the Repair Internet Explorer option and then click the OK button.
Click the Yes button to continue with the repair.
Restart the computer when you are prompted and allow the computer to configure Microsoft Internet Explorer.
<b>Alternate fix to repair Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x for Windows 98 SE:</b>
From the Start menu, choose Run.
In the Open field, type rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt" Note: The command is case-sensitive.
Click the OK button.
Click the Repair Internet Explorer option and then click the OK button.
Click the Yes button to continue with the repair.
Restart the computer when you are prompted and allow the computer to configure Microsoft Internet Explorer.
<b>To repair Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x for Windows 2000:</b>
From the Start menu, select Settings, and then choose Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear.
Open the Add/Remove Programs icon. The Add/Remove Programs window will appear.
Click the Internet Explorer 5.x option or the Internet Explorer 6.x option, and then click the Change/Remove button.
Click the Internet Repair Tool option and then click the OK button.
Click the Yes button.
Restart the computer when you are prompted.

From the Start menu, choose Run.

Restart the computer when you are prompted and allow the computer to configure Microsoft Internet Explorer.
<b>To repair Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x for Windows XP:</b>
Note: Before proceeding, ensure that your Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM is available.
From the Start menu, choose Run.
In the Open field, type sfc /scannow
Click the OK button.
Restart the computer when the System File Checker program finishes.
<b>Alternate fix to repair Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x for Windows XP:</b>
Note: Before proceeding, ensure that your Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM is available.
From the Start menu, select Search, and choose Files or Folders.
Click the More Advanced Options item and ensure that there is a checkmark beside the Search hidden files and folder option.
In the Name field, type ie.inf
In the Look in drop-down menu, click C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
Click the Search Now button. The correct ie.inf file should be located in the Windows\Inf folder.
Right click the ie.inf file and choose Install from the drop-down menu that appears.
