<p><b>How to restore wininet.dll without the XP cd </b>

Missing wininet.dll is becoming an issue due to spyaxe infection. Here is how to restore it without the XP cd.

<b>Warning:</b> The system may lock up a few times or give error several times during this procedure. Just keep trying, it will work.

1. At the blank desktop, press <b>[CTRL+ALT+DEL.]</b>

Task manager should open

2. On the <b>[Applications[</b> tab, click the<b>[ New Task]</b> button.

The Create New Task window should open.

3. Click the<b>[ Browse ]</b>button.

4. Browse to the <b>[i386]</b> directory.<b> IMPORTANT:</b> In the<b>[ File type]</b> window at the bottom of the page, change this to <b>[All Files]</b>. Customer will have to scroll far right to find it.

5. Find the <b>[wininet.dll]</b>. Right click and choose<b> [copy. ]</b>

6. Browse to the <b>[window\system32]</b> directory. .<b> IMPORTANT:</b> In the <b>[File type]</b> window at the bottom of the page, change this to <b>[All Files. ]</b>

7. Press <b>[CRTL+V ]</b>to paste. (right-click paste is NOT an option)

8.Make sure<b> [wininet.dll]</b> appears, then click<b>[ Cancel ]</b>in the bottom right.

9. Close the <b>[Create New Task ]</b>window.

10.Click the <b>[New Task]</b> button again. In the <b>[Create New Task]</b> window, type<b>[ explorer.exe ]</b>and click <b>[OK.]</b>

This should bring the desktop back.
