Locking Internet access in Zone Alarm

If your office has an always-on Internet connection, use Zone Alarm's Internet Lock feature to protect your machine in your absence. To enable this, double-click on the Zone Alarm icon. Click on the Lock icon to stop Internet access. The Internet Lock is disabled by default. In the Automatic lock window, click on the Custom button. You will see a set of options. From that click on the 'Lock after ? minutes of inactivity' option, and set the time to 20 minutes. You can also configure the lock options to either completely lock Internet access or let certain programs pass it.

Using a proxy server

The best possible solution for absolute privacy is to surf using a proxy server. You could, for instance, use Internet Junkbuster Proxy-available at www.junkbusters.com/ht/en/ijb.html-which can selectively block cookies. Another such tool is InterMute-available at www.intermute.com-which blocks pop-ups as well.
