1. INSTALLING WINDOWS 2000 SERVER
Prerequisites:
Before working on this lab, you must have a computer meeting the minimum hardware requirements for installing windows 2000 server.
Exercises:
Installing windows 2000 server
Steps:
1. Start the computer with the windows 2000 server compact disc.
2. When the setup notification screen appears press ENTER.
3. When the welcome to setup screen appears press ENTER.
4. When the windows 2000 Licensing Agreement screen appears read the agreement and then press “F8” to accept the licensing terms.
5. Check for the existing partitions and if any existing partion is there Press ENTER to install OR if there is no partition , create a partition and press ENTER to select the partition .
6. Press ENTER to select “format the partition using the NTFS file system”.
7. On the Welcome to windows 2000 server setup wizard page , click next ,or wait a few seconds for the installation process to continue automatically.
8. On the regional Settings page, click NEXT.
9. On the personalize your software page, in the Name box ,Type the Name, and in the Organization box, type the Organization name and click NEXT.
10. On the your product key page, type the product key of the CD and click NEXT.
11. On the licensing page, Select Per Seat or Per Server and If you Select Per Server, verify that you specify no of concurrent connections depending up on your requirement and then click NEXT.
12. On the computer name and administrator password page, type the computer name and set the password to the Administrator account and click NEXT..
13. On the Windows component page, click NEXT.
14. On the date and time settings page, adjust the date, time, and time zone on your computer as necessary and click NEXT.
15. In the network settings dialog box, click custom settings and then click NEXT.
16. On the Networking Components page, click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), and then click properties.
17. In the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) properties dialog box, type the IP address that should be assigned to your computer.
18. On the networking components page, click NEXT.
19. Verify that No, this computer is not on a network, or is on a network without a domain is selected.
20. In the Workgroup or Domain , verify that Workgroup appears and then click NEXT.
21. Installation Process continues.
22. On the completing the windows 2000 setup wizard page, click FINISH.
