How to Disable AIM when it opens when you open Outlook Express

I've run into this a couple times this week. Apparently AIM integrates itself into Outlook Express by default. Here's how to disable it:

AOL Instant Messenger launches when launching Outlook Express

Turning off the option in Outlook Express, Tools > Options to start AOL Instant Messenger when opening Outlook Express does not work. You must uncheck the option in AOL Instant Messenger that makes it the default Instant Messenger (IM) program:

Open AOL Instant Messenger and Sign on.

Click My IM on the menu.

On the drop-down menu, select Edit Options and then Edit Preferences then Sign On/Off.

By turning this option off, the option in Outlook Express to 'Automatically log onto AOL instant messenger' is no longer there, and Outlook Express will not launch AIM when starting. When next starting AIM, at the prompt to make it the default IM program, select the checkbox to not perform that test in the future.
